A messy price list creates two problems: clients don’t know what they will pay, and you spend half your day answering “how much is…?” in DMs. A clear list does the selling for you and protects your time.
Before you write a single price
A list only works if the numbers behind it are right. Make sure every price covers your materials, your time and a profit margin. If you haven’t done that yet, start with how to price your nail services or use the free pricing calculator.
Step 1 — Group services into 4 or 5 categories
People scan, they don’t read. Group services so a client finds theirs in seconds:
- Manicures (classic, gel polish, dip)
- Extensions (acrylic, gel, soft gel tips) and fills
- Nail art (priced per nail or per level of detail)
- Pedicures
- Add-ons and removal
Step 2 — Price add-ons separately
Add-ons such as repairs, extra length, chrome, French tips or soak-off removal take time and materials. If you bundle them into the base price, either the base looks expensive or you work for free. List each add-on with its own price.
Step 3 — Use “starting at” carefully
“Starting at” is fine for work that varies, like nail art or long extensions. Make clear what changes the price (length, complexity, number of nails with art). For everything else, show a fixed price: it builds trust and avoids awkward conversations at checkout.
Step 4 — Show the time
Listing how long a service takes helps clients book the right slot and justifies your price. It also forces you to check that each price covers the time it really takes. See what your hour is worth if you are unsure.
Template you can copy
| Service | Time | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manicures | ||
| Gel polish manicure | 60 min | $__ |
| Extensions | ||
| Full set | __ min | starting at $__ |
| Fill | __ min | $__ |
| Add-ons | ||
| Soak-off removal | 15 min | $__ |
| Nail art (per nail) | 5 min | $__ |
| Repair (per nail) | 5 min | $__ |
Keep it up to date
Review the list every few months. When supplies or rent go up and your prices don’t, your margin shrinks quietly. When it’s time to raise prices, read how to raise prices without losing clients.
The Successful Manicure app stores each service with its time, materials and margin, so you always know whether a line on your price list is making money.
